My Journey

On February 7th, 2020, I completed my big chop. This chemical expulsion from my hair sparked my strong and ongoing commitment to natural, clean hair care and living.

Around this same time, I also went vegan and became very intentional about maintaining the healthiest diet possible. To me, ingredients are the foundation for a healthy anything, “why is it there?” “is it helping? or is it hurting?”.

Naturally (haha, pun intended), this quickly spilled into my approach to my hair - no more fillers, no harsh chemicals, no “sketchy” ingredients. But what if I specifically WANTED something in my products?

I put a ton of time into finding brands that create products I could trust. I started researching ingredients, finding the best preservatives, and learning about those multifunctional “superfood” equivalents and their place in hair care. The problem was, once I started discovering what my hair liked and what I wanted to try, there was no central place to shop these products. The best brands out there were evidently the smaller, much lesser known ones. You won’t find the vast majority of them in drugstores or through online retailers; the only way to purchase is often through their individual websites.

My project manager brain lit up, and UptightCurls.com was born. I am bringing you a one-stop shop for finding hair products for YOUR hair. You can search by product type and either include or restrict to meet your specifications. Your results are pulled from my current inventory, and where I have a YouTube video review, you will find a link attached.

Scope and functionality of this search will grow, and I encourage community engagement. Your feedback will help me further provide what we all need to efficiently shop and care for our hair.

So go forth, go natural (or don’t, we don’t discriminate!), because I’ve got you covered.

Thanks for stopping by Uptight Curls by Amanda. I hope you enjoy your stay, and that you leave with a list of products to keep your hair UPTIGHT, and HEALTHY!

Regards, Amanda
